In this post, I want to share with you the character traits that I believe are mandatory to build a successful Lifestyle Business.
These traits are Courage, Self-Confidence, Self-Discipline, Determination, and patience.
You will also find that developing these qualities in you will have positive effects in many other areas of your life; like your health, fitness, relationships, finances, and parenting.
So, let’s dive into each one of them.
Having courage means to follow your dreams no matter what. To tune into your intuition and know what is the path that you should take and then go for it. Even if it is risky, still go for it.
It doesn’t mean that we must make impulsive decisions. We must consider the risks and made an intelligent plan to achieve what we want. A clear goal, with a clear vision and a clear strategy. Then it is about having the courage to take every day the steps towards your dream no matter what.
“What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
We must believe in our selves to create the Lifestyle that we dream of. A key thing that helps to increase your Self-Confidence is to stop comparing yourself to everybody else.
You see, we all have different paths, different experiences, different childhoods, different skills, different bodies. We are are all unique! When we can acknowledge that we are special because of our uniqueness and that we can make a difference in our and other people’s lives by embracing our uniqueness, then Self-Confidence is the natural result.
The only way to see our goals and dreams come true is by putting in the work, day in and day out, consistently. And to be able to do so, we must develop a strong sense of Self-Discipline.
I believe that there are two different types of Self-Discipline. One is the will powered one, we just push through it. And the second one is Self-Discipline that comes naturally from doing something that we love so much that there is nothing else that we would rather be doing.
This is why in a Lifestyle Business, where you do something that you are passionate about, Self-Discipline becomes more or less automatic. Because it is so much fun, engaging and in some way easy, you just want to do it!
“You cannot dream yourself into a character. You must hammer and forge yourself one.” – James A. Froude
These character traits are about setting a clear focus and then keep on taking steps until you achieve your goal. It’s about never quitting, no matter what. You might revise strategies in the process, learn from your mistakes, but keep on persisting until seeing your goal materialized.
Patience is key to everything in life. If you think of how to grow a tree, we need to find the seed that we want, plant it, water it every day for many days before we even see the first sprout and then care for that little sprout relentlessly until it becomes a little plant and from it continue caring and nurturing it for years until it becomes a tree.
So, we must be able to wait patiently, trusting and knowing that everything is happening, even if we cannot see the sprout yet. We must be able to enjoy the process, every day. Be able to take a breath, smell the soil, feel the sunlight and knowing deeply that we are doing all that we can to make the little seed become a tree.
If you focus more on developing these character traits and a bit less in “working hard” to see your Lifestyle Business grow, you’ll find that the growth happens naturally, as a result of the development of your personality and inner self.
I hope you find this helpful not only to build your Lifestyle Business but also to improve your life in many different areas.
By developing our character we change ourselves into the person that we want to become and this has a ripple effect on everything and everyone around us.
Wishing you all the best and remember, we can have it all!
